Continued with our Recon mission today for bait and life in the Western LI Sound. Started out around 1PM and hit a few local spots....Not much doing Water temp up at 57-64...Sound was like glass
Worked some areas in the sound near a lobster boat pulling traps....tons of birds....a few marks on the screan down 70 feet....pulled out the diamond jigs and worked them for a short while.. Continued west and hit some western sound wrecks and took note of various structure....Couple of full party boats were out there hitting the Blackfish before this season closes next week....they seemed to be doing well..glad to see people out on them. Headed to LNB and Hempstead....Wind kicked up a tad out of the SW 10-15.....Water temp droped to 52-54...no bait to be seen top water working the mouth of both. Worked a few jetties with engines running...bumping in and out of gear...drives into the wind... worked the windward side around to the lee side getting in tight...my brother throwing bucktails and shads off the bow....lots of fun! Headed back to Northport and did a little deep water cast netting in the harbor.... Beauty of a day on the water!
